Monza defender Danilo D’Ambrosio is preparing for a battle against his former Inter Milan teammates on Saturday night.

The 35-year-old spent nine and a half years with the Nerazzurri before leaving the club in the summer following the expiry of his contract.

The versatile defender admitted that he was hoping to remain at the Giuseppe Meazza until the end of his career. However, he had to accept the club’s decision and walk away.

The former Italy international ended up sealing a free transfer to the nearby Monza. He has now established himself as a protagonist at the back in Raffaele Palladino’s starting lineup.

While he remains emotionally attached to the Beneamata, D’Ambrosio vows to leave it all on the pitch against his old employers.

“I remember the Serie A opener at San Siro, it will be exciting but as soon as the referee blows his whistle, I will be ready to give everything for Monza,” said the former Inter defender in his interview with Calciomercato.

“We have to play our own game, even if it won’t be easy against Inter. We will fight tooth and nail.

“They are having a great campaign. They know what they have to do. It will be a great title race against Juventus between now and the end of the season.”

“Carboni is proving that he has quality and time on his side. He making the most out of his chances. He has great potential.”

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has contributed with two goals and three assists thus far this season.
